Pheasant hunting at Oak Tree By Horse & Hunt is rooted in tradition, habitat, and scale. Spanning approximately 6,000 acres of prime South Dakota cover, the property offers expansive fields, shelterbelts, and natural transition areas that consistently hold strong populations of wild birds throughout the season.

With thoughtfully managed ground and room to spread out, each hunt delivers classic South Dakota pheasant action—hard-flying birds, long pushes, and rewarding days in the field. Whether hunting with guides or running your own dogs, Oak Tree provides the space, access, and setting that make pheasant hunting what it’s meant to be.

After each hunt, guests return to the lodge with their birds for photos and processing before easing into the evening—showers, cocktails, appetizers, and time to relax throughout the lodge’s gathering spaces. From early breakfasts that get you into the field on time to hearty dinners that close out the day, the pheasant hunting experience at Oak Tree blends classic South Dakota bird hunting with the elevated hospitality that defines the lodge.
